Bird’s-Eye – A Large Tag

Bird’s-Eye – A Large Tag

Happy February. ūüôā¬† Here is another one of those projects I worked on a few months ago where I used a lot of my paper scraps and fibers from other projects.¬† First, I covered a 5 1/4 x 10 1/2 inch tag by Ranger with scrapbook paper. Then, I gathered up some fabric, fiber and paper scraps and a few odd die cuts I had on my desk and started layering.¬† When I was happy with how the tag looked I cut the word “Bird’s-Eye” from my dictionary and added it where the eye of the bird would go. I also cut out¬†the definition of¬†the word “Birds-Eye” and glued it above the bird.¬† At the bottom I used two metal embellishments I had on my desk too.¬† It was simple and fast to make and it helped me use up some more of my scraps.¬† Creating¬†can be¬†fun, fast and easy. I¬†encourage¬†you to use simple pieces at your fingertips and create a cute, funky tag or journal page with them.

Until next time,

Junk Your Stuff – Tags Using Packaging Part 2

“Junk Your Stuff” – Tags From Packaging Part 2

The “Junk Your Stuff” series continues with Part 2 of creating tags from packaging. ¬†I took a few things I had in my stash and focused on using ¬†just those things. ¬† I like how they came out and I’m ready to push on and create round 3 of the tags using packaging. I hope you are creating some too.

Junk Your Stuff – Tags From Packaging

Here we go again…Junking Our Stuff. lol While creating the “Junk Your Stuff” Paper Bag Journals I used up a lot of product but I also wound up with a boat load of packaging. I started cutting the packaging into tag shapes of various sizes and started making tags using more of my stash. This first group of tags was a lot of fun to make but I have a lot of tags to make and a lot of stash to use so there will be a several parts to this series. ¬†I hope you enjoy and get some ideas. Thank you for watching. ūüôā

Coffee Bag Tags

Coffee Bag Tag

Coffee anyone? ¬†Smells sooooo good even after it’s gone. lol ¬†As I was making this Coffee Bag Tag the smell of coffee was wafting through the air especially when I used my heat gun to do some drying. So you can imagine that I was wanting coffee quite often through the process but I managed to wait until “coffee time” to have some. However, I did not wait to create this tag. It was a lot of fun and I have plans to make more and possibly turn them into a Coffee Bag Tag Book. ¬†Yes, I think I might just do that. ūüôā

Colorful Tags Using Dried Flowers From Mothers Day

Dried Flower Tags

For Mothers Day I received a beautiful flower arrangement from my son, daughter-n-law and two sweet grandchildren. I hated to see them start dying so I decided to dry a few of the flowers and make something with them so I would have the memory of them as long as they lasted.  They should last for a long time too.  So, I made a paper bag journal and used some of the flowers. Then, I made some tags using almost the rest of them. I set a couple aside to use on a canvas.  I love how the tags came out. They are so sweet and so cute.  And they are fun to make.

Stamp It, Draw It, Paint It, Tag It!

Paper, Ink Pads and Stamp

Here I go again saying what I have said for weeks now….I want to use my stuff. lol ¬†I had a small watercolor paper pad with 6 pieces of paper left in it and a half of a manilla folder left over from a earlier project so I set about using them up. I grabbed a tag stamp and several colors of Staz-On ink and got to work. After stamping the tag image on all the paper space I had available I drew some whimsical flowers on each one in pencil then started painting them and cutting them out. ¬†I added some distressing and a thin coat of sealer to each tag. ¬†To finish them up I put pretty trims through the holes of each tag, ¬† I really enjoyed this process and plan to do it again in a little different way so be on the look out for that. ¬†Below are some photos and a video link showing the process of making the tags. ¬†I hope you give it a try. ¬†Have fun.

Raid Your Kids Easter Baskets

Use Easter Packaging To Make Something Artsy

If you enjoy mixed media art then you will totally get this. lol Product packaging that you might normally throw in the trash can be used to make some really cute art pieces. ¬†I have a video up giving you some ideas of how you can use the easter packaging from your kids or grandkids Easter baskets. ¬†In the photo above you can see different packages that I kept when I made up some Easter packages for the grandkids. ¬†Below I will show you a photo of something I created using some of the packaging or templates created from the packaging. ¬†It’s a lot of fun and a great way to use up some trash. Give it a try. ūüôā ¬†Happy Easter.

Skype Art – Mixed Media Tags Using Scraps & Leftovers

Mixed Media Tags

Skype Art! ¬†That is what those of us who like to create art while visiting with a friend on Skype like to call it. ¬†It’s a fun way to spend time with other creative minded people and create something while you visit. ¬†Sometimes we create whatever we feel like and sometimes we do something together or make something from a “challenge”.

This particular day I was talking to a friend on Skype and we were creating tags. ¬†We challenged ourselves to use bits of trims, laces, buttons, scraps, flowers or ephemera that ¬†you might have lying around on your desk or tucked away in your drawers or storage containers. ¬†During the Skype session I was able to start and finish four tags. ¬†Considering I used left over pieces of this and that from other projects I think they came out pretty cute. ¬†It’s amazing what you can create with things you might otherwise have thrown away. ¬†There is no video for these tags but there are playlists on my YouTube¬†channel that shows you how you can use scraps to create cool journal pages and boxes to create whimsical characters.

Be Creative!
