I am so excited to announce that I am part of the 2018 Design Team for Roben-Marie Smith. I have had to keep this quiet and bite my tongue for almost 3 months and boy was that hard to do. lol I am so inspired by Roben-Marie and very excited to be a part of her team next year. And, I am really looking forward to working with the other wonderful and very talented ladies on the team. Pop over to Roben-Marie’s blog to meet the other team members and share in our excitement. I hope you will join me in this awesome adventure.
Again with the paper bags? Yep…again. lol And trust me there will be more paper bags to come. This little guy is so cute. It’s a smaller bag and it was the perfect size for ATC’s. So, this bag turned into a little ATC book. If you aren’t familiar with what an ATC is it stands for Artist Trading Cards. They are little 2-1/2 x 3-1/2 cards you make to trade with other artist or to just make for fun of it. If you would like to see how to make this book you can go to the link below and watch the process video. I didn’t take more photos of the inside pages but you can see them in the video. Start saving those paper bags. They make such cute projects.
Last week I made my first fabric beads. You can see those in the previous blog post. Of course I had to use them in some projects. I made some charms and a key chain. I just love them. They can hang anywhere. I plan to hang one on my purse. I also used one of my beads on a long hat pin. I forgot to take a photo of it but you can see it in the video and the link for the video is below. I really enjoyed making these and I just love the way the beads I made and the other beads I used look together. I especially love the fibers on the beads I made. I have a few other projects I am working on where I used my beads and at some point I will show them in a video and/or on my blog post. Until next time have fun creating!
A month or two ago a YouTube subscriber asked me if I had a video on making fabric beads. I did not have a video about it because I had never made any paper or fabric beads before. She asked if I would mind showing my take on making fabric beads and I said I would. When I had some time, I sat down and started making some fabric beads using scraps from my scrap bin. I found it relaxing and fun to do. Once I had a few beads made I then made some charms with them. They are so cute. So, there is now a video on how I make my fabric beads and next week I will share how I made my charms. A link to the beads video is below. Use up some of your scraps and make some pretty beads. It’s fun. 🙂
Can you believe it’s almost September? Well, it will actually BE September when this post gets published. This year is flying by and it seems to go faster since I started creating art journal pages in my old calendars each year. I wonder why that is? Hmmm. Maybe because creating the pages makes me more aware of what day it is. So, here we have July and August calendar pages. I got a little behind but I got caught up just in time for the next month to roll in. lol August was an odd month. I started riding my bike 15 miles a day 6 days a week, gave up coffee and working on cutting out sugar all in the same month. I think this month went by so fast because I was in an exhausted, coffee deprived state of mind. lol Ok…a slight exaggeration but I have to say I was super tired for a few weeks while I adjusted to the changes. Now, I’m ready for Fall and can’t wait to see the leaves change colors. I always feel extra creative in Fall and Winter for some reason. Spring makes me want to bring out the entire box of crayons. Oh wait, I do that no matter what time of year it is. lol And Summer, well, we try to get along. lol Thanks for stopping by. See you again soon.
I named this art journal page “Just Play” because that is exactly what I wanted to do…play! I had a few stressful days and just wanted to relax and have some fun. I used a few paint colors, a charcoal pencil, my sharpie poster paint pen and a few other things and just went to town. I love to paint in a sketchy, painty way that would to some people seem “messy”. But, that’s the fun for me and it keeps me from trying to create “perfect”. I hope you will take some time to play in your art journal and just take a break from the everyday things in life we have to deal with and escape into your own “mess”. 🙂
The “Junk Your Stuff” series continues with Part 2 of creating tags from packaging. I took a few things I had in my stash and focused on using just those things. I like how they came out and I’m ready to push on and create round 3 of the tags using packaging. I hope you are creating some too.
I was going through the photos on my computer and moving some of them to a backup hard drive when I came across this art journal page I created some time ago. I left it on my computer because I like the colors so much and I love how the page turned out. Also, it’s a tiny reminder to me of why I created this page and how on days I need it most to choose to forgive and not hold on to anything bothering me. It is a gift I give myself and every time I do it I am free to go on with my day and enjoy the wonderful things it has to offer. I thought I would share the journal page with you. I hope you are having a wonderful day.
Here we go again…Junking Our Stuff. lol While creating the “Junk Your Stuff” Paper Bag Journals I used up a lot of product but I also wound up with a boat load of packaging. I started cutting the packaging into tag shapes of various sizes and started making tags using more of my stash. This first group of tags was a lot of fun to make but I have a lot of tags to make and a lot of stash to use so there will be a several parts to this series. I hope you enjoy and get some ideas. Thank you for watching. 🙂
The last few mornings I have been out on my bike ride it has felt like Fall and it’s still early August in Tennessee. The breeze has felt cool making it easier to “do my time”. lol But it sure has made me eager for Fall which is one of my favorite times of the year. So, when I sat down to play in my art journal I had no idea what would show up. But, based on the page you see pictured here I think I had Fall on my mind just a bit. I love Fall, I love creating and I love this page. By the way, I did film this process but I neglected to change the battery in my cameras remote control so half of the video was filmed “on” when it was supposedto be “off” and vice versa. Soooo, no video. I may go ahead and put it up just for fun though. We’ll see. Thanks for stopping by.
