A quick note to let you know that the videos for days 3 – 6 and days 7 – 10 are up. I will link them below.  I am really enjoying this challenge.

Day 7 – 10 of 100 Days Of Journaling With Happy Mail

I am so glad I chose to do something simple and fast as well as something I have wanted to do for a long time because it makes it so much easier to stick with it.  I am not sure my journal is going to hold up though. It’s already feeling rather full and it’s still rather early in the project.  We’ll see. 🙂

Talk to you soon,

Laurie

My 2 Cents – Mixed Media Bunny Canvas

My 2 Cents – Mixed Media Bunny Canvas

A few weeks ago I posted a few photos of some bunny canvases I made using a wood bunny garland that I took apart.  Today, I am sharing with you the last canvas I made and there is a video you can see to watch the process.  These are so cute, fun and easy to make. They are great for Easter or any other time of the year.  You can substitute the wood bunny for any other character you like and you don’t have to use wood.  You can use lightweight cardboard or chipboard.

See you again soon,

Laurie

The 100 Day Project – 100 Days Of Journaling With Happy Mail – Day 1 & 2

The 100 Day Project – 100 Days Of Journaling With Happy Mail

The 100 Day Project started on April 3, 2018.  I have never done a project like this before so I thought I would give it a try. I wanted to make this project simple enough that I could sustain doing it for 100 days and not feel overwhelmed by it so I decided on journaling with happy mail. I am using a small Dylusions journal by Ranger and happy mail that I received several years ago for a birthday giveaway I had on my YouTube channel.  I have wanted to use this happy mail in a project for a long time and I think The 100 Day Project is perfect for it.  The photos below are Day 1 and Day 2. I am filming the process so there will be some videos.  The first video is up and you can see the link below. I am also posting photos on Instagram and that link will be below also.

See you again soon,

Laurie

Yes, Another “Junk Your Stuff” Journal

Junk Your Stuff Journal 2

If you saw my video where I created the first “Junk Your Stuff” journal  (you can see that video here) then you will know that I had a lot of leftover paper from the paper pad I used.  was determined to use up that paper so I set about making another journal and I call this one “Junk Your Stuff Journal 2”.  Other than three or four sheets of the paper that I kept aside, I used up the rest of the paper pad.  Yay!!!  In this journal I also used up a bunch of fabric scraps, embellishments, ribbons and odd and end things I have had a while. I bound the journal with rings so it would expand easily and each page has three holes with large eyelets for stability.  Each page of the journal is a 12 x 12 sheet of paper folded in half. Then,  I stitched paper strips, tags, fabric strips and other things on each page. I just kept building layers and each page is different.   I love this journal, it’s so chunky and fun.  I don’t think of this journal as complete because I can keep adding to it. I haven’t decided what to actually use the journal for but I’ll think of something.

See you soon,

Laurie

Mixed Media Bunny Canvases Using Wood Garland

Burlap Bunny Canvas

With Easter right around the corner I have had bunnies on my mind.  Probably not a shock right? lol About two years ago I bought a bunny garland from Target (photo below) with the intention to take apart the garland and make something with it.  As with most of my good intentions the garland wound up in a drawer.  I decided this was going to be the year that I actually did something with that garland so, today, I took apart the garland and started playing.  I created two canvases which I think are super cute and I have three more bunnies I will make something with in the next few days.

They are super easy to make and you don’t have to have a garland to make one.  Just find an image of a bunny that you like, the size you like and print it out.  From the image you can make a cardboard or card-stock bunny, decorate it, then use it on your canvas.  One of my canvases is burlap and all I did was distress the edges with Walnut Stain by Ranger.  The other canvas I used a piece of drop paper and glued it to the canvas. Then I added paint, some stamping (stamps are from Roben-Marie Smith), markings and some rub-ons until I was happy.  Then I added my bunnies and some flowers and embellishments.  I really love how they turned out.

These would make cute gifts no mater what time of year it is.  I plan on hanging mine in my art studio year round and just enjoy looking at them. I hope you will give it a go.

See you soon,
Laurie

Art Journal Snippets + Meet The Maker Challenge

Art Studio Snippet

Hello. I hope your March is off to a great start.

I started my very first challenge March 1st.  I have never committed to a 30 day challenge so this is a first for me. So far I have met the daily prompts but we are only on day 6. lol  If you are interested in seeing the daily prompts I am posting just follow me on Instagram here.

Also, for the past few weeks I have posted Art Journal Snippets and Art Studio Snippets on Instagram.  These snippets are just sections of an art journal page that I like. I may or may not like the entire page but there is always a section of the page that catches my eye.  The art studio snippets are small areas of my art studio that I enjoy. I have shared a few snippets of how I like to store some of my tags in an old Singer sewing machine drawer, how I keep art cards on a piece of home decor hanging on my door, how I store extra paint and glue in a vintage kitchen cupboard as well as other things.  I also filmed a video of the perfect example of an art journal page that totally went south but in the end I found snippets I loved.  I have edited that video but honestly, I don’t think it’s going to make it to YouTube.  I just can’t seem to get it edited to my liking.  But, at some point I’ll share a photo of the journal page and some snippets of it that I really like.  As for today, I’ll share some of the snippets I have shared on Instagram on my blog.  I’ll be posting more snippets on Instagram over the next few weeks. I hope to see you there.

Have a great week.

Boho Artsy Ornaments

Boho Artsy Ornaments

This past December I wanted to make some ornaments for my tree.  While I love the look of typical Christmas ornaments and colors I found myself pulling out all sorts of colors to make my ornaments. I had just finished making some bracelets with wire and beads, you can see those in the previous blog post, so I kept with that line of thinking to make my ornaments.  I made circles with wire leaving a tiny hooked area at the top of hanging, wrapped the wires with fabrics and fibers then wrapped the wire with more wire strung with beads. To finish off the ornaments I tied strips of ribbon all around the ornament and added ribbon at the top in the hook for hanging.  I really love how these turned out.  So much so that they never made it on to my tree.  I hung them in a cluster in my art studio so I can see them every time I am creating.  Maybe next Christmas I’ll be ready to use them on my tree. Until then, I get to enjoy them all year-long.

Thank you for stopping by.  It’s always nice to see you. I hope you enjoy the photos below.

Simple Bracelets From Wire And Beads

Simple Bracelets From Wire & Beads

I rarely make jewelry but when I was making my beaded charms last year  I thought I would make a few bracelets just for fun.  I made two bracelets using wire to make my bracelet shape.  I took some wire, any gauge you like is fine as long as you can bend it easily, and formed a circle the size I would need to slip over my wrist. Then I made it a tiny bit bigger to account for wrapping various items around the wire.  Once I got the size I wanted I looped the wire ends together and wrapped them around each other. Then I wrapped the wire with fabric and glued it at the end to finish it off. Then I wrapped fibers, trims and twine around the bracelet adding a bee charm to one of them.  I tied the ends off to secure the trims.  Then, I made a third bracelet simply by stringing some wood beads on a piece of monofilament I cut to the size I needed for my bracelet. I finished that one off with a jewelry clasp. Lastly, I made a fourth bracelet using garment pins. I just added some tiny beads to each garment pin and then hooked them together. I left one garment pin empty of beads to use for the closure.  I love that they are so basic and simple. I probably broke a lot of “jewelry making” rules since I was just “winging it” but I’m ok with that. 🙂

See you soon,

Laurie
