I really wanted to show you how easy and fun it is to use your stickers to cover the bodies of the “Teacup/Coffee Cup Cuties” so I made a video showing you how. There are actually two videos. The first one is of “Higgy & Iggy” and is specifically geared toward showing you how to use stickers to cover their bodies. The second one is very similar but I go a little more detailed with decorating the bunny. I hope you will take some time and look through your stash of supplies and find things you love and put them to good use. I am finding I love the use of the item much more than having it in a drawer. See you soon. 🙂
If you enjoy mixed media art then you will totally get this. lol Product packaging that you might normally throw in the trash can be used to make some really cute art pieces. I have a video up giving you some ideas of how you can use the easter packaging from your kids or grandkids Easter baskets. In the photo above you can see different packages that I kept when I made up some Easter packages for the grandkids. Below I will show you a photo of something I created using some of the packaging or templates created from the packaging. It’s a lot of fun and a great way to use up some trash. Give it a try. 🙂 Happy Easter.
I have talked a lot about using your scraps and items in your stash and not holding on to them. So, I have done just that and using my stash in my art. I recently used a bunch of stickers on some of my mixed media projects but I still have several packages I had pulled out that I wanted to use. I went rummaging through my drawers and found a small composition book I have had for a while. I decided to alter it and use up all of those stickers. I decorated the outside then went through each page and added a sticker to it. lol I plan to use the book for little notes to myself on things I need to do or ideas I have for creating. A sticker on each page will just add a little interest as I go through it making my notes. I will show you a photo of the outside of the book but I did not take any photos of the inside pages. Just imagine a cute little sticker in the corner or the center or even the top part of the page. I have to say, it was a lot of fun throwing those stickers in the book with no rhyme or reason. I think I might do that again. Find some of your old stash and use it up. It’s fun. 🙂
In the previous post I shared with you my “Teacup/ Coffee Cup Cuties as well as a preparation video showing the types of things you can use to create these cute dolls and characters. A few days later I created “Ellie Elephant” and showed you the process of how I made her. She turned out so cute. Below are photos of “Ellie Elephant” and a link to the video for her. Maybe you will be inspired to give one a try. 🙂
I spent a couple of weeks just playing with my scraps, flowers, laces, trims, stickers and other embellishments that I am trying to use and not continue to “protect” them from being harmed and hiding them away in my storage containers. lol I was inspired to create some little characters while cleaning out my “odds and ends” container. As I pulled out each item deciding whether I wanted to use it or lose I came across my cone-shaped coffee filters. There are so many things you can do with coffee filters besides make yummy frufru coffee but on that particular day I saw a dress or skirt and decided to make some dolls out of chipboard using the coffee filter as my inspiration. I made some teacup/coffee cup girls, bunnies and birds. They are so cute and so fun to make I wanted to share them with you. Below I will put a link to the video as well as a FEW photos so you can see a handful of them and hopefully be inspired to make some. I have also uploaded a “preparation” video where I share with you a few of the things I used to create my little dolls and soon there will be a video sharing how I made them so be on the look out for that too.
Skype Art! That is what those of us who like to create art while visiting with a friend on Skype like to call it. It’s a fun way to spend time with other creative minded people and create something while you visit. Sometimes we create whatever we feel like and sometimes we do something together or make something from a “challenge”.
This particular day I was talking to a friend on Skype and we were creating tags. We challenged ourselves to use bits of trims, laces, buttons, scraps, flowers or ephemera that you might have lying around on your desk or tucked away in your drawers or storage containers. During the Skype session I was able to start and finish four tags. Considering I used left over pieces of this and that from other projects I think they came out pretty cute. It’s amazing what you can create with things you might otherwise have thrown away. There is no video for these tags but there are playlists on my YouTube channel that shows you how you can use scraps to create cool journal pages and boxes to create whimsical characters.
I was trying to figure out the “best” way to blog and like with anything you try to research there are a hundred gob zillion ways to do one thing by just as many people with an opinion on how to do it. So then you lose me because it feels too restrictive. Blogging is supposed to be fun and easy…for me anyway. So, that’s how it’s going to stay. Fun and easy. I may post for a few weeks in a row then nothing for a while. I may post one day then nothing for a year. That’s terrible blogging according to many folks but you know what…in order for it to be fun and easy it has to be just that, FUN and EASY. If I have to follow some sort of “rule” then it won’t be fun. If I have to be “perfect” then it won’t be easy. It’s like doing art, I can’t have fun with it if it has to be perfect or if I have to follow exact rules. So why not apply my own rules to blogging just like I did with my art? Great idea…let’s do THAT. So, let’s see where this leads. Let’s just enjoy what is and not worry about what isn’t. 🙂
I have been wondering what to make this first post about. So much has happened in the last two years. It stresses me out to think about trying to type up the entire events of the time that has passed so I decided that sometimes you just can’t cover it all and you just have to start where you are. Based on that, today I will just share with you the latest video that I put up on YouTube.
In the video, I altered a coaster. We do not eat out very much but there was a time when we used to eat out often. Some of those restaurants provided coasters for your drink and anytime I had the opportunity to keep a coaster from that meal I did. There was a time or two when the person waiting on our table just gave me a handful of coasters when I asked them to please not take my coaster with my plate because I wanted to use it for art. They told me they get them for free from distributers and were happy to hand over a bunch to me. So, I had quite a few coasters saved. I recently had to go through all of my art supplies while I was re setting up my studio and came across these coasters. I had so many I decided to downsize and get rid of the ones I didn’t like as much and use a bunch of the ones I did like. Below is a link to the video if you would like to see how to make one.
