“Junk Your Stuff” – Junk Journals From Paper Bags

Junk Your Stuff – Paper Bag Junk Journals

A few weeks ago, I was cleaning out a cabinet in my kitchen where I keep plastic and paper bags. When I saw the stack of paper bags (see above photo) I had kept from grocery shopping trips I thought, hmmm, I don’t need all these bags so I will throw them away.  At the time I was saving them I was thinking I really wanted to make something artsy with them but the stack kept growing and nothing artsy was being made.  So, I grabbed the entire stack and set them on the counter to be tossed out when I was done.  When I was finished with the cabinet cleaning, I walked over to the paper bags and picked them up to carry out to the trash can.  But I hesitated. The crinkly sound the bags made and the feel of the paper was sooooo appealing. lol  I thought, ok, I need to make something with these bags. But I made myself a deal. I could keep the bags as long as I actually used them to make something. If I didn’t start using them that week they were going in the trash. So, I took them up to my art studio to await their fate. lol  The very next day I started making my Junk Your Stuff journals.  I worked my way through each and every paper bag.  Then, I went through my drawers and storage containers and pulled out all kinds of stuff I have been wanting to use up to decorate them.  I have to say I am very pleased that I used all of the bags and I love how they turned out.  I hope you enjoy the photos below and there is also a link to the video where I show you how I made them.  Now, go Junk Your Stuff! 🙂

Pockets And Posies – Two Pockets From One 12 x 12 Paper

Pockets And Posies

I am trying to use up a pad of scrapbook paper, which by the way will take me 50 years lol, so one day I sat at my desk and played with a sheet of paper until I came up with a pocket that I liked.  I was able to make two pockets from one 12 x 12 sheet of paper.  I randomly machine stitched fabric scraps on some of the pockets and paper scraps on the other pockets.  Then I added some fabric flowers I made a long time ago.  They are really easy to make and super cute.  Check out the photos and there is also a video showing you how I made them.

Let’s Make A Cute Little Journal From Fabric Scraps

Fabric Scraps Journals

I’m starting to sound repetitive but here I go again with my “use your stuff” mantra. I took a break from my paper bag project to make some cute little journals using up fabric scraps and the rest of scrapbook paper pads.  Did I tell you about the paper bag project?  If not, in short, I am using up all the paper bags that I was keeping under the cabinet in my kitchen because I made a deal with myself that I could only keep them if I used them quickly.  I had planned to throw them away but I just couldn’t.  I love the paper texture and color so I kept the deal with myself and I am working on the paper bags a little each week.  There will be photos and a video soon.  But, moving on to the fabric scraps journal project.  I went through my fabric scraps box and pulled out all kinds of ribbon, lace, trims and fabrics and created cute little journals.  I also managed to finish up the papers in two scrapbook paper pads that I used to make the signatures in the journals.  They are very easy, cute and fun to make. And best of all there is no stress involved in creating them.  Take a look at the photos and watch the video and you’ll see.  Maybe you will be inspired to make one for yourself. 🙂
