Junk Your Stuff – Tags Using Packaging Part 1

Junk Your Stuff – Tags From Packaging

Here we go again…Junking Our Stuff. lol While creating the “Junk Your Stuff” Paper Bag Journals I used up a lot of product but I also wound up with a boat load of packaging. I started cutting the packaging into tag shapes of various sizes and started making tags using more of my stash. This first group of tags was a lot of fun to make but I have a lot of tags to make and a lot of stash to use so there will be a several parts to this series.  I hope you enjoy and get some ideas. Thank you for watching. 🙂

Coffee Bag Tags

Coffee Bag Tag

Coffee anyone?  Smells sooooo good even after it’s gone. lol  As I was making this Coffee Bag Tag the smell of coffee was wafting through the air especially when I used my heat gun to do some drying. So you can imagine that I was wanting coffee quite often through the process but I managed to wait until “coffee time” to have some. However, I did not wait to create this tag. It was a lot of fun and I have plans to make more and possibly turn them into a Coffee Bag Tag Book.  Yes, I think I might just do that. 🙂

Colorful Tags Using Dried Flowers From Mothers Day

Dried Flower Tags

For Mothers Day I received a beautiful flower arrangement from my son, daughter-n-law and two sweet grandchildren. I hated to see them start dying so I decided to dry a few of the flowers and make something with them so I would have the memory of them as long as they lasted.  They should last for a long time too.  So, I made a paper bag journal and used some of the flowers. Then, I made some tags using almost the rest of them. I set a couple aside to use on a canvas.  I love how the tags came out. They are so sweet and so cute.  And they are fun to make.

Creating Pages In My “Junk Your Stuff” Junk Journals From Paper Bags

My Personal Junk Your Stuff Journals

I decided to create a Part III video to the “Junk Your Stuff” Junk Journal From Paper Bags project. I wanted you to see how I work in my journal and hopefully give you some ideas and inspiration for working in yours journals.  I also mentioned in one of my videos how the “Pockets and Posies” pockets would look great in these journals.  I made one and love it. There will be photos of it below.  Here are some photos of the pages I created in my junk journal as well as a link to the video showing you how I created it. I hope you feel inspired.

“Junk Your Stuff” – Junk Journals From Paper Bags

Junk Your Stuff – Paper Bag Junk Journals

A few weeks ago, I was cleaning out a cabinet in my kitchen where I keep plastic and paper bags. When I saw the stack of paper bags (see above photo) I had kept from grocery shopping trips I thought, hmmm, I don’t need all these bags so I will throw them away.  At the time I was saving them I was thinking I really wanted to make something artsy with them but the stack kept growing and nothing artsy was being made.  So, I grabbed the entire stack and set them on the counter to be tossed out when I was done.  When I was finished with the cabinet cleaning, I walked over to the paper bags and picked them up to carry out to the trash can.  But I hesitated. The crinkly sound the bags made and the feel of the paper was sooooo appealing. lol  I thought, ok, I need to make something with these bags. But I made myself a deal. I could keep the bags as long as I actually used them to make something. If I didn’t start using them that week they were going in the trash. So, I took them up to my art studio to await their fate. lol  The very next day I started making my Junk Your Stuff journals.  I worked my way through each and every paper bag.  Then, I went through my drawers and storage containers and pulled out all kinds of stuff I have been wanting to use up to decorate them.  I have to say I am very pleased that I used all of the bags and I love how they turned out.  I hope you enjoy the photos below and there is also a link to the video where I show you how I made them.  Now, go Junk Your Stuff! 🙂

Stamp It, Draw It, Paint It, Tag It!

Paper, Ink Pads and Stamp

Here I go again saying what I have said for weeks now….I want to use my stuff. lol  I had a small watercolor paper pad with 6 pieces of paper left in it and a half of a manilla folder left over from a earlier project so I set about using them up. I grabbed a tag stamp and several colors of Staz-On ink and got to work. After stamping the tag image on all the paper space I had available I drew some whimsical flowers on each one in pencil then started painting them and cutting them out.  I added some distressing and a thin coat of sealer to each tag.  To finish them up I put pretty trims through the holes of each tag,   I really enjoyed this process and plan to do it again in a little different way so be on the look out for that.  Below are some photos and a video link showing the process of making the tags.  I hope you give it a try.  Have fun.
